Long time coming for CrosbySinger-songwriter David Crosby is set to appear April 8 at Belly Up, in the Aspen Writers Foundations Lyrically Speaking series. The date is rescheduled from last August, when Crosby canceled due to health issues. Tickets are on sale at Belly Up, with prices ranging from $30 for students and educators, to $150 for reserved seats.The event will feature an onstage interview of Crosby conducted by Paul Zollo, senior editor American Songwriter magazine, as well as solo performances of songs from Crosbys catalog. The Lyrically Speaking series, which has included past appearances by Michelle Shocked, Aimee Mann and Vusi Mahlasela, focuses on the writing side of the singer-songwriters craft.The 66-year-old Crosby is a two-time inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, having been honored for his work with the folk-rock pioneers the Byrds, and the supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Voyage, a three-CD retrospective featuring such songs as Almost Cut My Hair, Long Time Gone and Eight Miles High, was released in 2006. Crosbys latest group is CPR, featuring guitarist Jeff Pevar and singer-keyboardist James Raymond, the son whom Crosby reunited with in 1995.Crosby has written two volumes of his autobiography 1988s Long Time Gone, and 2006s Since Then: How I Survived Everything and Lived to Tell About It which tell of his jail terms, addictions, illnesses and musical achievements. He has also published 2000s Stand and Be Counted, a book of interviews exploring celebrity involvement with social causes.World of summer festivals on Planet BluegrassPlanet Bluegrass has announced additional performers for its three summer festivals: Telluride Bluegrass, RockyGrass and the Folks Fest.The 35th annual Telluride Bluegrass, set for June 19-22 in Telluride Town Park, will feature Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, Arlo Guthrie, Hot Rize, Leftover Salmon, and the Swell Season, featuring Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova, the Academy Award-winning duo from the film, Once. They will join a lineup that includes previously announced acts Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby, the Ani DiFranco Band, Bla Fleck, Tim OBrien and others.Added to the lineup for RockyGrass, July 25-27 on the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, are the Punch Brothers, featuring Chris Thile, and the trio of Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas & Edgar Meyer. Previously announced acts include the Sam Bush Bluegrass Band, Natalie MacMaster, Psychograss, JD Crowe & the New South, Abigail Washburn & the Sparrow Quartet, featuring Bla Fleck, and others.Folks Fest, Aug. 15-17 in Lyons, will feature KT Tunstall and Amos Lee, in addition to already scheduled artists Greg Brown, Tim OBrien, the Waifs and Todd Snider.Complete lineups for each day will be announced in early spring.
