Smuggler users invited to offer input
Aspen, CO Colorado
ASPEN ” Recreation on Smuggler Mountain will be the focus of a Tuesday, Aug. 28 meeting hosted by the Aspen and Piktin County open space and trail programs.
Open space officials are seeking public input on what sorts of activities Smuggler users pursue on the mountain, the biggest concerns/issues for users and suggestions for future improvements.
The information will help in the drafting of a management plan for the mountain, already popular with hikers, mountain bikers, dirt bikers, snowmobilers, skiers, the occasional four-wheelers, dogs and others. Newly acquired open space on the mountain, which flanks Aspen’s northeast side, opens up the potential for new trail routes and expanded uses.
Those who can’t attend are invited to fill out an online Smuggler Mountain User survey at http://www.aspenrecreation.com.
The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Rio Grande meeting room (the former youth center) at 455 Rio Grande Place.
For more information on the management plan, call Pitkin County Open Space at 920-5232 or the Aspen Parks Department at 920-5120.
