Aspen Mountain skiing is finished for the season

Aspen Mountain won’t open for another bonus weekend of skiing after warm weather presented too great of a hurdle.
“Your lift-served ski season is finito,” Aspen Skiing Co. spokesman Jeff Hanle said Wednesday.
The decision was made this week after daytime temperatures climbed and it didn’t freeze at night even at higher elevations, he said. Employees were informed of the decision via email.
The top of Aspen Mountain opened for skiing on Memorial Day Weekend. Rich Burkley, Skico vice president of mountain operations, said last week a decision would be made Wednesday on extending the ski season further, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Aspen Mountain’s Silver Queen Gondola is operating on weekends for summer sightseeing. The mountain will open daily for summer activities starting June 17.
