Skier injured after hitting tree

ASPEN – A 38-year-old Englishman purportedly struck a tree Tuesday while skiing Aspen Mountain, said Pitkin County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Lumsden. He was not wearing a helmet.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Lumsden said the victim was to be airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction. Because of patient confidentiality laws, the victim’s name was not released.
