Skier dies in fall from lift at Heavenly

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. ” A 19-year-old man has died after falling 25 feet from a ski lift at Heavenly Mountain Resort.

Ryan Donald Moore fell about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday after leaning forward to rub a cramp out of his leg, according to Heavenly Mountain resort and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department. The resort listed his hometown as Santa Ynez in Southern California.

Moore was riding with a friend on the Dipper Express chairlift when he fell. Witnesses told authorities that the restraining bar on the chair was not down.

He was airlifted by helicopter from the ski resort to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Heavenly spokesman Russ Pecoraro says the resort is investigating.

State issues Vail Resorts a notice of violation for 2021 fish kill

Vail Resorts has received notice of violation and a cease and desist order in the wake of a spill, which qualifies as a “discharge of pollutants,” last year from part of the Vail Mountain snowmaking system that ultimately resulted in a fish kill in Gore Creek.
