Aspen Times Staff Report

The Aspen Skiing Co. recently appointed Bobbie Burkley as marketing director and John Rigney as director of ticket sales.

Burkley returns to the marketing department after spending the past year and a half as director of ticket sales, where she was instrumental in ushering in new ticketing and lift access technologies. In her new position, Burkley is responsible for strategic planning as it relates to product development, advertising, direct marketing and brand development.

Burkley has been with the Skico since July 1992, when she started in the communications department.

Burkley received her master’s degree in marketing research from the University of Georgia and bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Virginia. Before moving to Aspen, Burkley worked as a research analyst for J. Walter Thompson, USA and as a study director for Market Fact, Inc., both based in Washington, D.C.

Rigney replaces Burkley as director of ticket sales, managing daily ticket operations at all four mountains as well as the advance sales ticket department.

Rigney spent the past two seasons as Snowmass ticket office manager, where he played an integral role in the development and implementation of the Skico’s new computer ticketing system.

Rigney joined the Skico in 1993 as Aspen Highlands ticket manager before shifting to Snowmass in 1997.
