Skico props up Little Buddies

Dear Editor:

On Sunday, March 13, Big and Little Buddy Pairs came together for the annual Ski and Snowboard Day at Buttermilk, and enjoyed fresh snow and sunny skies! Thanks to the generosity of the Aspen Skiing Co., Little Buddies were on the slopes for free, equipment was provided, and volunteer instructors made it possible for kids who had never skied or snowboarded to have a safe day.

Furthermore, Bumps Restaurant provided a delicious, hearty lunch! This day would not have been possible without the help from the following individuals at Aspen Skiing Co.: Matt Hamilton, Alex Kendrick, Matt Tietz, Kelly Keeffe, Liz O’Connell, Martin Horowitz, Tim Shortell, Mark Hamby and the crew at Bumps. Also a very big thank you to Stan Starn and Isabelle Gruet who generously donated lift tickets.

One Little Buddy came to the Buddy Program office the following day, beaming from ear to ear and expressing “I am so happy at school today because I learned to ski this weekend!” The Buddy Program is proud to be strengthening our community by guiding and inspiring youth through mentoring.
