‘Ski On’

Dear Editor:

Gorgeous sunny day

Pursuing my passion

Carving ski turns

Deer Park Trail

On Aspen Mountain

On the ground

Run down

Never saw it coming

An idiot, straight running

Has taken me out

Hurt too much to shout

“I gave you fifteen feet

And you turned in front of me”

This idiot says

Me, I’m dazed

And starting to hurt more

Been blasted out of both skis

Torn left calf muscle

Bruised hip and battered ribs

Down my left side

A little dingy

But didn’t go out

Glad of my helmet

And here’s the patrol

Jimmy and Danny

Toboggan ride by Annie

First-class job all three

And now off

To Emergency

Good care there

By Doctor Scott

And Nurse Mel

Cycling buddy Jim

X-Rays OK

Physio Therese

Gets me balanced right

Still, a rough day

And a night

Not much better

Could be worse

Rest’s the key

Two weeks for me

Off the snow

Take it slow

Then back I go

To live my dream

Ski on!

Ed Cross
