Six cell towers on B Hill?
November 22, 2007
Why did Basalt Town Council last week preliminarily approve six (yes, six) cellular towers on top of B Hill, a significant Basalt landmark? These towers will loom over family neighborhoods, the elementary and middle schools and Arbaney Park.
In addition, health effects (increased rate of brain tumors, miscarriages, etc.) are a growing concern around such towers. Other than a few European studies, almost all scientific research on cell towers is funded by and controlled by the wireless industry. The true risks are yet unknown.
If you are concerned, please call or write to the town of Basalt this week. The final vote will take place in early December.
