Sister Cities thanks
During the week of Oct. 23, 2011 Maria Emilia Saavedra, MD, a cardiologist from Bariloche, Argentina, traveled to Aspen to participate in the Aspen Bariloche Medical Exchange Program.
Since Bariloche became a Sister City of Aspen in 2002, the Aspen Bariloche Medical Exchange Program has been working to improve patient care in both the Aspen and Bariloche communities through education, philanthropy and cultural exchanges.
On behalf of Aspen Sister Cities, the Aspen Bariloche Medical Exchange Program, the Aspen Sports Medicine Foundation and Aspen Orthopaedic Associates, we would like to say a sincere thank-you to all the individuals who worked very hard to provide Dr. Saavedra with a meaningful and educational experience including: Kevin Stevens and the doctors and staff at Valley View Hospital Heart and Vascular Center, Valley View Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Department, and Gordon Gerson, MD, FACC and staff of Aspen Valley Hospital Cardiology Department. We thank you for warmly welcoming her and for the supportive manner in which they received Maria in your office. Dr. Saavedra returned home with new knowledge and skills; and especially fond memories of a welcoming and friendly cardiology community in the Roaring Fork Valley.
We would also like to extend a special thank-you to Warren Klug and Aspen Square for generously offering Dr. Saavedra free accommodations while she was visiting Aspen. And the following individuals generously sponsored educational and social events while Dr. Saavedra was visiting including: Francesca MacPherson, Krista Fox (Aspen Valley Hospital Occupational Therapists), Glen McLeod (Aspen Club Physical Therapist), and Noelle and Andrew Larson. Exchanges like this could not be offered without the generosity of local businesses and individuals.
We also really appreciated the Aspen Rotary Club for inviting Dr. Saavedra to present about the Aspen Bariloche Medical Exchange Program at their weekly meeting and so graciously welcoming her to the Aspen community.
Thank you to the many volunteers who are working tirelessly to improve patient care in the Aspen and Bariloche communities through the Aspen Bariloche Medical Exchange Program. This program would not be possible without the extremely generous support and dedication of The Buster Foundation, Bariloche Sister Cities, Aspen Sister Cities, Aspen Valley Hospital, Aspen Orthopaedic Associates, and Aspen Sports Medicine Foundation.
