Sick woman rescued from Conundrum Creek hike

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office received a call for help regarding a sick hiker in Conundrum Creek Monday. The hiker was a 15-year-old female with a group from Andover Youth Services in Andover, Massachusetts. The young woman was suffering from an undisclosed medical condition which necessitated her immediate extraction from the wilderness, according to a Sheriff’s Office statement released early Tuesday morning.

Mountain Rescue Aspen volunteers were deployed into the field at approximately 6:45 p.m. and reached the young woman and her party at approximately 7:15 p.m. The patient and the volunteers were all out of the field safely by approximately 9:30 p.m., at which time the patient was transported by an Aspen Ambulance to Aspen Valley Hospital.
