Shun dog sledding

Dear Editor:

Whether it’s winter or summer, keeping dogs on short chains is cruel and indefensible. Try to imagine living your entire life in a 6-foot patch of dirt amid your own urine and feces. Unthinkable, isn’t it? Dogs are highly social pack animals that want to give and receive love and attention from family and friends. They want to be part of a family.

Life on the end of a chain is no life at all. Anyone who cares about dogs should shun dog-sledding operations.
