Dear Editor:

I have looked over the new proposals by Leslie Wexner and Pitkin County pertaining to the proposed land exchange of the former Sutey Ranch in Garfield County for BLM land at the base of Mt. Sopris.

Pitkin County proposes to develop public access through the rugged, hitherto inaccessible terrain between the Crystal River and the northern flank of Mt. Sopris, and Leslie Wexner proposes to guarantee that the same terrain will remain forever in conservation and free from mineral exploitation.

Pitkin County now wears the developers hat and Leslie Wexner wears the hat of preservation. May the best man win.

James Breasted
