Show and tell

Dear Editor:

Dear friends, here is how to save the Given. First, a movie has to be made showing how wonderful the existing facility is, its brilliant position in the community, and then all the other 501s need to be shown and how they all relate in making Aspen the place to have the best 501 campus in the world.

The city can’t do this ’cause the city and county elected officials have been dumbed down by staff memos for so long that they couldn’t get out of the box if they were in there with a rattlesnake. A group of citizens must do it. They don’t have to mention that soon the director of community development is about to tell them to bend over and take the next development plan ’cause there will be a couple of trees left and you will only be able to see the buildings from ACES when the sun is in a certain position.

Copies of this brilliant movie will then be sent to basically every major 501 in the world. Gates, Soros, the president of France: The list will be extensive and brilliant. The movie will point out the huge advantages of being in Aspen, along with the added advantage of a major donor being able to now only build a small house on the campus, but probably have the place named after him and be able to bask in the appreciation of a very grateful community. This will work; there are several good young filmmakers in town, and it could be done for very little money in a short period of time.

I can be consulted. I have the whole thing worked out already.
