One of the liveliest and most fun parties of the fall season is the Shitkickers Ball, which was held for the 31st year in late October at the Hotel Jerome. Everyone wore their Western garb, and there was fabulous dancing as well as a down-home meal of meatloaf and mashed potatoes with sundaes for dessert. It’s the time for Christmas office parties, and all kinds of other holiday parties.The Aspen Chapter of the 99s will host its annual Pilots’ Christmas Party on Monday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.; it will be held again at the Hotel Lenado. The party is free and open to the public with a cash bar and “potluck” appetizers and desserts. Attend and talk with other aviation enthusiasts. The CCAH Council for the Arts Gallery in Carbondale is holding a holiday show exhibiting clothing by Brigitte Heller-Ulrych, jewelry by Barbara Sophia Ulrych, woodwork by Elle and Jim Gould, pottery by Sandie Gardner, and glasswork by Sam Perry and Roger Dale.The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is returning to New York City’s prestigious Joyce Theatre for performances Jan. 23-28. The opening night gala will be held Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. with a reception following the performance. Barbara and Tom Stanford are spending the winter at their home in San Carlos, Mexico, and are in the midst of a big remodel (Barbara reports that termites and rust were there before them). They hope to be done by April.On Thursday, Dec. 28, the Aspen Art Museum rolls out the red carpet for its annual après-ski benefit, Dennis Basso Freestyle at the St. Regis Aspen, presented by Bulgari and sponsored by Aspen Magazine. The latest in Basso fashions will be presented as well as Bulgari jewels. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. with champagne, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Then auctioneer Andrea Fiuzcynski, president of Christie’s Beverly Hills, will conduct the live auction.
