Sheriff, not the DEA, has my trust

Dear Editor:

The DEA has told us that it didn’t cooperate with the Pitkin County Sheriff’s department during a recent cocaine bust because it didn’t “trust” Pitkin County Sheriff Joe DiSalvo or his department. What I would like to know is who in the hell trusts the DEA?

The DEA hardly has a squeaky-clean record in law enforcement. If it comes to trusting some stranger who is a federal bureaucrat or our local sheriff, I have no problem going with the sheriff. I voted for DiSalvo because I trusted him and I still do.
