Sheila Wills is ready for school board

Dear Editor:

We encourage you to elect Sheila Wills for a position on the Aspen Board of Education. Sheila is a teacher, an attorney and a businesswoman who has lived in the valley for 20 years. We have had the pleasure of knowing Sheila, Lawson and her son, Matt, who is a sophomore at Aspen High School, for 10 years. Matt began his preschool career at Aspen Community School and started Aspen Elementary in kindergarten. Sheila understands our kids and all of our schools.

With the continuing financial difficulties facing the Aspen district, Sheila has an in-depth understanding of financial models and the budgeting process. For the last 20 years she has successfully run her own business. She understands the importance of making every dollar count for our kids. Added to this knowledge is her legal training and experience which makes her detail oriented, skilled in the areas of contracts and negotiation, and able to discover and address the hidden issues others might miss.

Her degree in education and experience as a teacher illustrates her long time commitment to the public school system. It also gives her the ability to understand just how complex a task it is to provide the best possible education for all 1,727 of our children. Sheila has the knowledge and skill to balance the district’s current financial constraints with the needs of the children, staff and administrators of the Aspen School District. No other candidate brings such a valuable set of qualifications.

We are in a unique position to recommend a candidate, having children in college, high school and middle school. And, our youngest, Audrey, will start at Aspen Elementary school next year. Help our school district. Help our kids. Vote for a qualified and experienced candidate. Mail your vote for Sheila Wills.
