Sex assault suspect’s bond revoked

The man accused of sexually assaulting a girl outside Carbondale is in Pitkin County Jail after his bond was revoked Jan. 16.Angel Montanez-Marioni, 20, has also had a federal immigration hold placed on him, meaning he will eventually be sent back to his home country of Mexico.When he is sent back depends on whether he is found guilty of sexual assault on a child, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of eight years in state prison.Montanez-Marioni was arrested Jan. 3 after a five-month investigation and released on a $15,000 bond with the help of a bail bondsman. He is accused of driving the 13-year-old girl to a remote area about five miles from the intersection of Prince Creek Road and Highway 133 and sexually assaulting her on July 24.His next court appearance is Feb. 7.
