Seriously? |

Dear Editor:

Recently, two articles in the local papers caught my eye:

It’s great to see Congressman Salazar supporting the coal industry! While Auden Schendler has his cushy environmental job at the Aspen Skiing Co., there are many people in the coal industry that need their jobs to support their families.

As of now, the skiing industry continues to power their lifts and snow making with fossil fuel. Until other sources of energy are developed that can supply the majority of this power, we’d better keep developing fossil fuel, keep coal miners employed and support Congressman Salazar. Please, we don’t need another Al Gore!

As for the Burlingame buy-in, what a joke!

• Phase One subsidy – $330,000 per unit;

• Phase Two projected subsidy – $350,000 per unit.

There are already people in the first phase struggling to avoid foreclosure and the city still wants to build Phase Two!? Is this the fleecing of Aspen or what?
