Send us your Christmas wish lists!
Well, it seems we just finished giving thanks, and now we’re into the season of giving. For the last couple of years, The Aspen Times has tried to promote a communitywide spirit of charity and generosity by inviting local nonprofit organizations to send us their wishes for 2005; we take those wish lists and publish them around Christmas, while urging readers to peruse the list and see if they can help.Nonprofits have told us in the past that this wish list has borne real fruit and even helped a few of them through a recession that drove down donations. So we’re doing it again. We published this announcement in the daily paper on Friday, Dec. 3, and to make sure everyone sees it we’re running it in this edition of the Times Weekly. We ask any and all nonprofits from Glenwood Springs to Aspen to send us lists of three items they need. Please be as brief and concise as possible, and be sure to include a contact person and phone number. Lists can be hand-delivered to our front office at 310 E. Main St. in Aspen, or faxed to 925-9156, or (preferably) e-mailed to email@example.com with the words “WISH LIST” in the subject line. We must receive the lists by 5 p.m. Dec. 20.We will take your lists and publish the complete catalog of verifiable submissions during Christmas week (“verifiable” means that we can call the organization and ensure it’s for real). Thanks to all of the valley’s nonprofits for their good work, and for their participation in what seems to be turning into an annual holiday tradition.
Despite being a big star, Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen has frequently connected with the young AVSC athletes while training at Aspen Highlands over the years.
