Send illegals packing

Aspen Times writer

Dear Editor:Illegal aliens make U.S. merchants richer while they make U.S. taxpayers poorer. I have come to the conclusion that the crummy lettuce illegals pick is costing me $6 a head when I take into consideration all the taxes I have to pay to provide social services for illegals, as well as for keeping them in prisons. Do they help the economy? No, I don’t think so. Illegal immigration brings poverty, ignorance, disease and crime. I’m delighted that ICE is making sweeps. It doesn’t matter where, as long as they make them. I recently heard of a small Mexican market being raided. They picked up employees as well as customers. By all means, we need to penalize those who aid and abet, hire and exploit illegal aliens.I want to see Operation Wetback in effect again. It took place during the 1950s. The immigration agents showed up at the illegal’s door, watched him pack and put him on a direct flight for home. No hearings and no lawyers. Time to enforce our laws. No use calling me a racist. I’m Hispanic.Haydee PaviaLaguna Woods, Calif.
