Semrau: A delicate balance

Dear Editor:The next mayor of Aspen will face a number of challenges at a very crucial time in our town’s future. Tim Semrau is the only logical choice.A delicate balance is needed to lead us through a critical time. The latest Jerome fiasco has clearly demonstrated that business as usual, resisting change and trashing respectable people in the aftermath just won’t cut it.Tim is a successful businessman with a strong sense of service who would bring his acumen to the mayor’s office. This is a skill the other two candidates simply do not possess. He is also the only candidate that has gone on record to hold the city to its own regulations regarding development. A 100,000 square foot office building is not what the town needs at this time.Aspen will continue to face change, looming development and other challenges. Like it or not, we cannot bury our head in the sand and enact moratoriums. Experience and leadership in both the public and private arena, along with a love for our special town is what Aspen needs.Look at the facts, and the resumes. I hope you agree that Tim would be our best choice for mayor.Cecil HernandezAspen
