Selfless acts

Dear Editor:

United Jewish Appeal Aspen Valley recently undertook an emergency campaign to raise funds for the families of the firefighters injured or killed by the horrible forest fire in Israel. Through the generosity of our donors, we have raised more than $25,000, and the campaign continues.

Included in this amount is the nearly $50 in change and small bills donated by 7-year-old Jessica and 9-year-old Will Haas of Basalt and $23 from Gabriela and Gideon Helf, the grandchildren of Stuart and Lotta Brafman.

We are truly moved to see such caring and sympathetic actions from young people, and wanted to share their good deeds with the community.

Thank you and happy holidays!
