Seeking some stimulus
Dear Editor:
I know you probably already know about the drastic increase in new assessments on property values for Pitkin County. My property assessments, and those of many of my clients, have almost doubled.
I know that the sales comparisons that they were using were until June 2008 (I am a realtor in town). However, I think this is wrong in today’s economy. I think it is almost not ethical to almost double property taxes in this environment and the Pitkin County assessor should make an exception. The Pitkin County assessors are kicking a man when he is already down.
I know that I would have a hard time selling my property for what my house was assessed previously, and now they almost doubled it. That is just wrong. Where’s our stimulus package from the Pitkin County Assessor’s Office?
