Section of Rio Grande Trail closes

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

CARBONDALE – The seasonal closure of the Rio Grande Trail segment between Rock Bottom Ranch and Catherine Bridge goes into effect Tuesday.

RFTA closes the trail section, above Carbondale, each winter as part of its wildlife management plan. All public uses are prohibited to protect deer and elk habitat in the winter, and to protect blue heron nesting areas in the spring.

The closure affects nearly 3 miles of the trail. The closure is in place from Dec. 1 until May 1.
