Search leads to felony charges for Aspen woman

ASPEN ” An Aspen woman was charged with four felonies in connection with a search at her Vine Street home that allegedly turned up several hundred pills of Xanax.

Kelly Jean Redwine, 29, faces more than 10 years in prison for the alleged misdeeds. She was charged with theft in series ($1,000 to $15,000), possession with intent to distribute a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of cocaine and possession of a financial transaction device.

The cocaine count is for less than a gram. Redwine was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, the district attorney’s office in Aspen said. The counts were filed with Pitkin County District Court on Friday.

Aspen police arrested Redwine on Feb. 4 for allegedly stealing money and clothing from her roommates.

A subsequent search of her room allegedly yielded 438 pills of Xanax, cocaine and other related items, a police report showed.

She is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail at the Pitkin County jail. Redwine is to next appear in court March 2.
