Search for missing Snowmass man continues
Aspen, CO Colorado
ASPEN – Law enforcement authorities will renew their ground search Saturday for George Aldrich, who was last seen Nov. 27 and has been missing ever since.
On Friday, the Aspen Police Department sent out a new release indicating that officials plan to comb the area of Truscott Place apartments, including Pyramid Drive and the Maroon Creek Golf Course.
Aldrich, who moved to Snowmass Village from Rhode Island in early November, was videotaped as he boarded an 11:15 p.m. bus last Saturday at the Rubey Park bus station in downtown Aspen. Family members, who have come to Aspen in the wake of his disappearance, identified him after a RFTA employee spotted Aldrich while reviewing the tape.
The videotape indicates Aldrich, 28, rode to the Truscott bus stop on the outskirts of Aspen, where he exited the bus. Although he appeared to be alone, he departed the bus along with several other passengers at 11:20 p.m., police said.
The video showed Aldrich boarding the bus alone, sitting alone and departing alone. Police are attempting to identify other bus passengers who boarded the same bus Saturday night at Rubey Park.
Aldrich was reported missing on the morning of Nov. 29 when the Snowmass Village Police Department received a report that he failed to show up for work on Monday. He has a job with the Aspen Skiing Co. at Snowmass. A search ensued; Mountain Rescue Aspen helped search the Snowmass ski area and an air search was also conducted.
Aldrich had been out at Eric’s Bar in Aspen with friends on Saturday night before his disappearance.
A joint investigation into Aldrich’s disappearance is being conducted by Aspen and Snowmass Village police and the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Mountain Rescue and Basalt police.
His family has put up a $5,000 reward for information that would lead to the location of Aldrich. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Aspen police at (970) 315-2103.
