Dear Editor:The second-grade teachers at Aspen Elementary were awarded a grant for 2006-07 in the amount of $1,000 from the Aspen Education Foundation. We are grateful for these funds and thank AEF for its continued support of the Aspen School District children. The materials purchased with this generous grant will enrich all current and future second graders. This grant made it possible for us to purchase supplementary books and materials that support the adopted science curriculum for second grade. Our science unit studies include Nutrition and Digestion, Rocks and Soil, Plants and Sound. With this award, we were able to buy books, teaching models and materials that enhance our students’ understanding of these science concepts. These materials will provide invaluable hands-on manipulative experience for our children. We value AEF’s commitment to the education of our children, and appreciate AEF’s hard work on their behalf. Thank you again!Mimi HauensteinSusan McKellerBecky OliverMargaret SymondsSara RevealDenise VetromileAspen Elementary School
