Schwartz supports a great bill
Dear Editor:As a resident of Snowmass Village and an advocate for consumer issues, I would like to congratulate Sen. Gail Schwartz for her support of Senate Bill 248. In brief, the bill calls for increased transparency among Colorado’s medical malpractice insurance industry by allowing a public hearing for rate increases in excess of 5 percent. Under the proposed legislation, only the Insurance Commissioner or a qualified expert on the subject could call such a hearing. This important consumer-friendly legislation will protect doctors from excessive rate increases, and ultimately Colorado consumers. I appreciate Sen. Schwartz standing up for Senate Bill 248, and its aim to provide transparency and openness to the process of determining insurance rates.Cindy TesterSnowmass Village
