Schwartz needs big local support

Dear Editor:

Gail Schwartz is running for the Colorado State Senate, and she needs every vote in the Roaring Fork Valley to get elected.

Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, you need to vote for Gail. Gail knows our valley, she has lived here all her adult life. Gail Schwartz is one of the most accomplished, likable, bright and committed people that I know.

I first became acquainted with Gail 18 years ago, when we were both working for Aspen Hospice ” I, as a professional and she, as a volunteer. She was a caregiver then and still is. I have followed her personal and professional life as a wife, parent, athlete, leader in the Aspen Educational Foundation and most recently elected member of the University of Colorado Board of Regents.

Gail is committed to help restore Colorado to the ranks of a progressive state. Currently, Colorado is 49th in K-12 funding, 48th in higher education funding, 45th in early childhood vaccinations and has one of the highest rates of the uninsured when it comes to basic health care. Senate District 5 is a large sprawling district stretching from the Roaring Fork Valley to the New Mexico boarder. Gail needs to win big, big, big in our valley if she is to unseat the incumbent, Lou Entz, from the San Luis Valley.

Please vote on Nov. 7, and get everyone you know to vote! Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a state senator living in Snowmass Village?
