School is for academics

Dear Editor:

I was reading Mr. Abelmann’s column about ELOs and I completely disagree (“Hands-on credit at Aspen High,” Feb. 10, The Aspen Times).

Very few kids make it to professional levels in sports. School is to teach academics to prepare students for the real world. In the real world you need traditional education to succeed. I’m all for sports but not for credits that are in place of academic learning.
