Ruth Horton

Ruth Horton was born and raised in Hackensack, N.J. She worked as an executive secretary to the president of Western Electric in New York City until she moved with her husband Don to Aspen in the 1960s. They owned the Maroon Creek Lodge at Aspen Highlands.
Ruth was an avid golfer, bridge player, knitter and a longtime volunteer at Aspen Valley Hospital. Ruth maintained her sense of humor through life’s trials.
A memorial service will be held at Carbondale Community United Methodist Church, 835 Second St., at 10 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2012.

Longhorn seniors clear final hurdles to graduate from Basalt High School
Andrew Huntsman and Ralph Smalley were chosen by the seniors to give the class address during Basalt High School’s graduation ceremony on Saturday. This had the two BHS teachers questioning the legitimacy of those diplomas they were about to hand out.
