Ruedi Reservoir filled to the brim

BASALT ” With Ruedi Reservoir essentially full, the amount of water released from the dam will be equal to the amount flowing in from the Upper Fryingpan River, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announced Friday.

The current elevation of the water at Ruedi is 7,765 feet above sea level, or 1 foot below capacity, the bureau’s statement says. The reservoir, east of Basalt, holds 101,000 acre feet of water.

The federal agency’s notice said recent rains increased the inflow to Ruedi that requires an increase of about 30 cubic feet per second from the dam. The total outflow from Ruedi combined with the flow of Rocky Fork creates a flow of 230 cfs on the lower Fryingpan River, the bureau said.
