Ruth “Rudy” Ann Bryant Morse, 86, died peacefully May 7, 2009, in Litchfield Park, Ariz.

Rudy was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Bridgeport, Conn. After attending Miss Hall, a private school in Pittsfield, Mass., she married Edward Wendall Morse III.

In 1948 Rudy and Wendy moved to Aspen and purchased The Lazy 7 Ranch, what is now Buttermilk Mountain. Rudy worked part-time for many years at Elli’s of Aspen. She was also an active volunteer with the Aspen Valley Hospital Blue Ladies, the Thrift Shop and Christ Episcopal Church. In 1982 Rudy and Wendy moved to Litchfield Park.



Rudy is survived by her eight children: Gerald Morse of Spokane, Wash.; Edward Morse IV of Irvine, Calif.; Dexter “Terry” Morse of Moab, Utah; Jennifer Wickes of Durango; Heather Nye of Spokane, Wash.; Christopher “Toby” Morse of Woody Creek; Valerie Morse of Snowmass Village; and Cullen Morse of Snowmass Village. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held near her home in Litchfield Park.
