Roundabout paving begins Tuesday

ASPEN ” Motorists will encounter paving work on Highway 82 at the Maroon Creek roundabout for three nights, starting Tuesday.

Milling and paving work will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday through Thursday nights to minimize traffic impacts.

One lane of traffc in the roundabout will be open during the work, but delays of up to 20 minutes are possible, depending on traffic volume, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The alternate route in and out of Aspen, avoiding the roundabout, involves Cemetery Lane, McLain Flats Road and Smith Hill Way.



Some lighting and noise will be unavoidable during the work, according to CDOT. The contractor for the project is Castle Rock Construction. The paving is part of the ongoing bus lane construction on the highway between Buttermilk and the roundabout.
