Roger Wilson for state Senate

Dear Editor:

We are fortunate to have Roger Wilson running to represent us in the Colorado Legislature (State House District 61). He will make an excellent representative for our valley. He is smart, articulate, very hard working and shares our values and priorities. He is committed to protecting our environment and quality of life for our residents and as the major basis for a healthy tourist economy. He wants to encourage job growth by joining in the effort to make Colorado a leader in the new green economy and will work to bring green job to the Western Slope. He understands and supports the need for a strong and innovative educational system in Colorado and the Western Slope for our families and for Colorado’s economy.

He moved to Colorado in 1968 to attend the University of Colorado and has lived in Garfield County for ten years. He received his degree in physics from the University of Colorado and attended the Colorado Outward Bound School in Marble and the National Outdoor Leadership School in Wyoming. He has worked in retail and construction. His professional background has given him strong experience in science and technology and in the private sector as a systems and software engineer at Lockheed Martin and in his position as chief technical officer for a children’s education website,, which teaches children how to read. His training and experience will be helpful in his efforts to encourage a strong, sustainable, economy for the Western Slope and in giving us a respected and effective voice at the State level.

Wilson is energetic, has a strong and positive vision for Colorado’s future and is committed to serving our district. Before I met Roger for the first time, I had an opportunity to talk to Congressman Jared Polis about him, since he has worked for Jared’s family’s business for many years. Congressman Polis recommended Roger enthusiastically and without hesitation. Since I have gotten to know Roger, I have come to strongly agree that he will make a wonderful state representative our valley and I urge you to please vote for Roger Wilson.
