Rock Bottom thanks
Dear Editor: The staff and animals at Rock Bottom Ranch would like to express a big thank-you to the community, volunteers and sponsors who made our third annual Harvest Party on Oct. 23 a real barnburner! More than 800 people attended this years event, carving more than 450 pumpkins, pressing gallons of cider, dancing to old-time music, visiting farm animals and eating barbecue beef courtesy of Rock Bottom Ranchs grass-fed cattle. New additions to the days events, such as the OldTyme Games for Kids, Farmer Matts BBQ, the barn dance and family portraits (thanks to Mountain Photo) were a great success, so expect to see them next year. (You wont want to miss the cow pie-throwing contest, either.) Special thanks go to the Hell Roaring String Band for keeping everyones toes tapping, all of our volunteer cookie bakers and to our sponsors, who included Wendy Lucas, Alpine Bank, Wells Fargo, Susan Fesus, Liberty Mortgage, Diane and P.D, Ash, Mason & Morse Real Estate and Roaring Fork Land Co. Thanks, too, to all of the families who contributed at the door, the folks who renewed or started Rock Bottom Ranch memberships and to our sponsors; your support is greatly appreciated. These funds allow Rock Bottom Ranch to continue to provide education programs for local schools, children and adults, produce healthy food for the community and pursue projects that are helping to restore and maintain the natural ecology of Rock Bottom Ranch. We are truly grateful to this amazing land and community.Matthew and Andrea Earley Coen, co-directorsRock Bottom Ranch
