Robert "Kess" Kesselring memorial

A memorial for Robert “Kess” Kesselring will be held at 5 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, at Bumps restaurant at the base of Buttermilk. Kess died earlier this year of cancer.

Kess was a 40-year employee of the Aspen Skiing Co., beginning as a ski instructor in 1963 and rose to become a ski school supervisor. Kess spent summers working as a fly-fishing guide.

Kess was among the founding members of the Aspen Yacht Club and a regular volunteer for World Cup ski races and the MotherLode Volleyball Tournament.

The reception is being hosted by his family. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family is asking people to make donations in Kess’ name to the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club.
