Robert Billingsley

A funeral service will take place Wednesday, May 21, at 2 p.m. for Robert Sheldon Billingsley of 0125 Ash Road, Basalt, who died May 18 at home.

He was 71 years old.

The service will be held at Basalt Community United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mary Kate Schroeder, for St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, will officiate. (Casual attire is suggested.) Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Basalt.

Billingsley was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Portland, Ore., son of Stanley George and Kathryn Elizabeth (Chamberlain) Billingsley. His parents preceded him in death.

He married Jane Keil on Aug. 13, 1966, in Riverside, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Jane, of Basalt; son Bradley Sheldon Billingsley and his fiancee, Amy Hilpipre; and son Jeffrey Robert Billingsley and his wife, Leslie.

Billingsley was a resident of Basalt for six and a half years. He worked in broadcast advertising before his retirement and served in Korea with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was also senior vice president of Ducks Unlimited, a board member for the Roaring Fork Conservancy and past vice commodore for the Aspen Yacht Club.

His family has suggested memorials be made to Ducks Unlimited, the Roaring Fork Conservancy, or the Make A Wish Foundation of Colorado.
