Roaring Fork Valley students to exhibit art in upcoming show
Aspen High School will show 17 pieces with a variety of mediums
Student art in the Roaring Fork Valley will soon be on display.
Five Roaring Fork Valley high schools will soon each contribute 17 pieces of art for the Roaring Fork Valley Art Show, “5 x 17,” at the Aspen Chapel Gallery.
The gallery will host the exhibit reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 11, but the work will remain on display until Feb. 9 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Aspen High School (AHS) students’ artwork represent drawing, painting, ceramic, graphic design, fashion illustration, cut paper, and ink. The International Baccalaureate (IB) seniors helped select the works submitted by students, an important part of the IB education, said AHS art teacher Julie Trahon.
“These IB seniors were thoughtful and deliberate about choosing a variety of pieces that complemented one another while also showcasing students’ individual talents and voices,” Trahon said in a news release.
She complimented her ceramics students on their technical skill, creativity, and three dimensional art work.
“I believe viewers will see their exceptional skills and hopefully be moved by their work,” she said in the release.
In addition to Aspen submissions, Basalt, Roaring Fork, Glenwood Springs high schools, as well as Colorado Rocky Mountain School will contribute student work to the show.
In AHS, the following students will contribute work: Jack Berro, Wyatt Calliham, Caroline “Coco” Clettenberg, Aife DeStefano, Kirilee Eklund, Grace Gallagher, Linda “Lin” Green, Zariah Green, Lucy Halferty, Suki Manuel, Hudson Miedema, Camilla Mendoza, Tarel Ramos, Zoe Riboud, Emma Scherer, Farah Stevenson, and Graceann Viola.
“We hope community members will visit the show and appreciate the incredible work being created by AHS students and students from across the valley,” Trahon said in the release.
