RMI’s Green Development to receive national recognition

Green Development Services, a program developed by Rocky Mountain Institute in Old Snowmass, has been selected to receive a major national award.

The President’s Council on Sustainable Development and a national nonprofit called Renew America announced last week that Green Development Services will be one of 24 programs throughout the nation to receive the National Award for Sustainability. Green Development Services will receive an award in the category of Green Buildings/Real Estate Development.

Green Development Services, through publications and consulting, promotes and demonstrates how environmentally sensitive development improves the comfort, health, aesthetics, resource efficiency and value of properties while reducing pollution and saving money.

The awards will be presented during the National Town Meeting for Sustainable America, to be convened May 2-5 in Detroit. The town meeting is dedicated to promoting ways that people can work together to create livable communities and a healthy environment.
