River conditions report for the Fryingpan, Colorado, Roaring Fork and more

  

Editor’s note: Due to continued drought conditions, Roaring Fork Conservancy and The Aspen Times bring you the weekly river report.

The snowpack has been holding on until this past week, when high temperatures caused river levels to rise sharply. The Crystal River is flowing three times higher than last week. The Roaring Fork is rising and yet is still below average. Both large transbasin diversion tunnels are diverting more than 135 percent of their average flow for this date. Ruedi Reservoir is 64 percent full. While short-term conditions have improved, the Roaring Fork watershed is still experiencing a moderate drought.



Colorado River at Glenwood: Current flow: 6,840 cubic feet per second. Average flow: 6,600 cfs. Percentage of average: 103 percent.

Roaring Fork River at Glenwood: Current flow: 1880 cfs. Average flow: 2160 cfs. Percentage of average: 87 percent.




Roaring Fork River at Emma: Current flow: 647 cfs. Average flow: 857 cfs. Percentage of average: 79 percent.

Roaring Fork River at Aspen: Current flow: 140 cfs. Average flow: 181 cfs. Percentage of average: 77 percent.

Crystal River at Redstone: Current flow: 802 cfs. Average flow: 736 cfs. Percentage of average: 109 percent.

Fryingpan River below Ruedi: Current flow: 114 cfs. Average flow: 249 cfs. Percentage of average: 46 percent.

Twin Lakes Tunnel: Current flow: 191 cfs. Average flow: 140 cfs. Percentage of average: 136 percent.

Bousted Tunnel: Current flow: 260 cfs. Average flow: 145 cfs. Percentage of average: 179 percent.
