Ritter, Hickenlooper to speak in Aspen

ASPEN ” Colo. Gov. Bill Ritter and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper will be two of the featured speakers at the fourth annual American Renewable Energy Day in Aspen on Aug. 24-25.

Ritter will deliver the keynote speech on “Leading Our Renewable Energy Future” at 3 p.m. on Friday. Hickenlooper will follow with a speech about “greening” the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver.

Saturday will feature music by Jimmy Ibbotson and presentations by renewable energy experts on reducing carbon emissions and battling global warming. Numerous governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations and for-profit businesses will demonstrate products and services geared toward energy efficiency.

Aspen Mayor Mick Ireland will speak Saturday at 2 p.m. about measures the city is taking to reduce its carbon footprint.
