Ringing for a cause

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Salvation Army-Glenwood Springs, the Carbondale Rotary wishes to express its appreciation to all the generous contributors, the many bell ringing volunteers who tended the kettles, and the greater Carbondale community for its 2007 fundraising. Your efforts raised $17,191.93 at the kettles at City Market in Carbondale. This is almost $10,000 more than we raised last year!

Thank you to the members of the Carbondale Rotary and the Carbondale Aspen Glen Rotary whose members and member’s families did the bulk of the kettle ringing. A special thanks to the staff and management of Carbondale City Market for allowing us to use their facilities, and to the staff and management of American National Bank of Carbondale, who helped with the bells and who counted all that cash. I would be remiss for not thanking David Hayes, who spent over 20 hours bell ringing and to Carbondale Rotary Bell Ringing Chair Mike Waski who was there for over 60 hours this year.

Again, a huge thank-you to everyone who made this such a successful effort. Happy New Year to all.

Ed Perregaux
