Ride by their own rules
Regarding Stan Clausen’s letter to the editor, “Rules of the Road,” Aspen Daily News, Aug. 6.
Mr. Clausen is correct when he states that bicyclists are permitted to pass one another and ride two abreast. Unfortunately in his zeal to educate us as to the letter of the law, he failed to mention that the law goes on to state, “WHEN IT DOES NOT IMPEDE THE USUAL FLOW OF TRAFFIC” (caps mine). This is standard procedure, for the entitled to consider the only rules and laws that are important are the ones that support their own sense of entitlement.
The rest of us will simply have to make our own judgment calls as to when our “usual flow of traffic” is being impeded.
