Rhoda Post

Carbondale resident Rhoda Post died Aug. 2, after a brief illness. She was 70 years old.

Post was born May 24, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She held a lifelong passion for art and art history and owned and operated art galleries in New York and New Jersey.

A visitor to the Roaring Fork Valley since 1988, she moved to Aspen in 1993 and then to Carbondale in 1998. She worked at the Christmas Shop and the Columbine Shop. Recently Post lived in Parker, Colo., enjoying retirement and her grandchildren.

She is survived by children Marisa Post and Scott MacCracken of Aspen; Robin Post of Parker; and Craig and Shari Post of Suffern, N.Y. She is also survived by grandchildren Andrew MacCracken, Hannah and Olivia Fertig and Evan and Stephanie Post.

A service was held at the Red Butte Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 4. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the American Cancer Society or the Aspen Valley Hospital Hospice Room Program.
