Retailers, consultants set to meet

A team of consultants hired by the city of Aspen will conduct a series of meetings to seek input on Aspen’s retail environment from retailers and others.Three breakfast meetings will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Mountain Chalet’s new fifth-floor conference room.Team members will make presentations over breakfast, then participants will divide up into smaller groups for further discussion before reporting their findings to the larger group.Those who plan to attend must RSVP to Denise Driscoll in the Community Development Department at 920-5041. Retailers are welcome to attend some or all of the sessions.Meeting topics are as follows:-Oct. 8 – External influences, including market and visitor trends, competitive influences and demographic changes. RSVP by today.-Oct. 22 – Infrastructure/physical factors, including retail design, maintaining a “sense of place,” an evaluation of the Aspen experience, great retail places and retail support requirements. RSVP by Oct. 15.-Nov. 12 – Internal influences, including retail synergy, retail mix and inventory, the landlord’s perspective and retailing trends. RSVP by Nov. 5.
