Respect former Basalt police chief’s right to privacy

Dear Editor:

I am writing to thank and support the town of Basalt for protecting the privacy of an individual who has obviously not wanted any information to be made public regarding his recent resignation from law enforcement. Rod O’Connor has a right to his privacy, and the town has a duty to protect it.

All the outcry about “getting the facts” is counterproductive to any pending issues being resolved as fairly as possible.
