Reschetnikow benefit Sunday

ASPEN ” A benefit will take place Sunday, Sept. 14, at Bumps Restaurant at Buttermilk to benefit Steve Reschetnikow, an Aspen area resident who was severely injured in a motorcycle accident earlier this summer.

The benefit will be held from 2-8 p.m. at Bumps. It will feature a battle of the bands, with three bands performing. There will be free food. Beer and wine also will be available. Tickets are $20, but kids 12 and younger can attend for free.

Organizers are urging attendees to ride a bus to and from the event.

Reschetnikow, 24, was injured June 1 on Frying Pan Road. He suffered a severe brain injury and multiple fractures. He has never regained consciousness and remains under care at Swedish Medical Center in Denver.

The benefit will help the family with medical bills, pay off Steve’s student loans and other bills, and help with the potential funeral and associated expenses, according to benefit organizers.

Door prizes include ski passes from the Aspen Skiing Co., skis, snowboards, landscaping and irrigation work, iPods and numerous other items from a variety of local businesses. Food, beer and wine were donated by local merchants.
