Remembering Telby

Dear Editor:

Re: “Telby: A good horse with a rough past,” Jan. 19.

In a world where instant digital satisfaction seems to be the norm, a love and respect for animals is an experience we can only hope our children will have. A big sorrel horse named Telby helped Spencer Shaw overcome a fear of horses and a fear of being alone in the saddle. His steady countenance and patience transformed a child with fear that translated into general disinterest, to a boy with a renewed sense of self-confidence and respect for a big, four-legged friend.

Our time with Telby was short, but it meant a lot to all of us. We appreciate the tribute to this great horse. May all of our animal friends be remembered with such dignity.

Sarah Chase Shaw
